Registering Devices
Step 1
Download the Blue2Factor app on your phone from Google Play. Also download the Blue2Factor app on your Mac from the App Store.
Step 2
Open the Blue2Factor app on your phone and select that this is your primary device. Click Continue.
Step 3
On the next page, enter your email. This will trigger an email to you. The email must be opened on that phone.
Step 4
When you receive the email, open it and click on the "Sign in to Blue2Factor" link. Your phone will ask if you want to Open with Blue2Factor. Click "Just once," which will cause the app to open to a page with directions and a QR code.
Step 5
Now switch devices to your Mac. Open the Blue2Factor App and click Yes if you have a phone that was purchased in the last 5 years or so. Next, enter your email. Depending on your company's setup this may trigger you to sign into your company's page.
Step 6
On the ensuing screen there is a box to run Blue2Factor every time your machine boots. We recommend checking this box so you won't have to manually start Blue2Factor each time. Click next.
Step 7
Once again, on your phone, click Scan. A screen will come up asking for your permission to allow Blue2Factor to take pictures and video. Either click "While using the app" or "Only this time." We only use your camera to pair devices.
Step 8
Then use you phone to capture the QR image that appears on your computer. The screen will blink when the QR code is found.
Step 9
Your phone will present a warning that Blue2Factor would like to use your location. While Blue2Factor doesn't use your location, it uses Bluetooth Low Energy which requires that permission. Please click, While using the app.
Step 10
Your phone and computer will now connect over Bluetooth. You may receive a request to pair your devices. If you do so, click "Connect," "Pair," or "Pair and Connect" on both your phone and computer. If you are asked whether to transfer your contacts between devices, click No.
Step 11
Once your devices connect, which can take up to 5 minutes, Blue2Factor will open a browser window on both of your devices. At this time you may be asked to provide a fingerprint or passcode to continue. Once you do this, setup is complete.
